about
WE SPEAK is a collection stories from the people of Kingston about the City of Kingston. Written during the "I Speak" monologue festival during the height of the pandemic by 21 Kingston playwrights, 12 of these monologues were then curated with the assistance of Kelly Dear and Artistic director Rosemary Doyle. WE SPEAK does for Kingston what Lily Tomlin’s Search for signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe did for NYC. During this striking new play, we will meet, old men, new moms, students, Tour guides, Professors, Karens, Ghosts, Prisoners, perhaps chickens and dogs, we’ve got it covered. At times touching, funny, frightening and surprisingly familiar, these characters are from the playwrights imaginations but aren’t they all a part of what it means to be from Kingston? This play will leave you wondering if that was you out there or maybe it was the lady at the metro? We Speak, now you should join us to listen.
