Theatre Kingston is proud to announce our full production team for our upcoming production of Hothouse, opening February 19 at the Isabel Studio Theatre.
Hothouse is a new work written by Judith Thompson, inspired by the Merilyn Simonds’ novel The Convict Lover. It is one of the largest productions TK has produced in recent years. Several of the production team from our fall production “The Mountaintop” return to help tackle Hothouse. Joining them is an experienced list of designers, some of which you may remember from past Theatre Kingston shows. Tim Fort, an experienced director and lighting designer with TK (Winter Wonderettes) returns to design the lights. Andrea Robertson Walker joins us after her successful designs this past summer in “Shipwrecked”. And Steve Lucas joins us from Toronto to design the set that serves as a backdrop to romance and mystery both inside and outside the walls of the Kingston Pen.
A new element comes into play in Hothouse for TK, Tom Bellman joins the production in composing original music for the show, some of which featured lyrics song by the cast. Long time Musical Director Ian Juby (Kinsmen Productions) assists in music directing several members of the cast who will play instruments live.
