Casting Announcement: Hothouse

Theatre Kingston is proud to announce the cast for our upcoming production of Hothouse, a world premiere by Judith Thompson, inspired by the Merilyn Simonds novel The Convict Lover.

Hothouse will star 6 incredible talents, 4 of whom make their home here in Kingston. The show will be directed by Kathryn McKay and is set to open February 19 at the Isabel Bader Studio Theatre.

Meet the cast of Convict Lover:

Ali Momen is Daddy Long Legs. Ali is a film and TV actor from Toronto who has had a wealth of theatre experience performing with Mirvish, the Shaw Festival, Theatre Calgary and the Tarragon Theatre. He is the star of the recent Deepa Metha hit movie Beeba Boys.

Kaleigh Gorka is Cassie/Young Phillis. A recent graduate of Ryerson University, Kaleigh has spent most of her early theatre career at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton and performing in various other musical theatre productions around Ontario.

Carolyn Hetherington is Old Phyllis. One of Kingston’s great theatre treasures, Theatre Kingston audiences will remember her hilarious scene-stealing moments in our 2013 production of Vigil alongside Artistic Producer Brett Christopher.

Krista Garrett is Big Nan. Making her Theatre Kingston debut, Krista is a regular fixture of the Kingston theatre scene, wearing many hats as one of the producers of the King’s Town Players.

Sean Meldrum is the Warden.  Sean is a former Drama student at Queen’s University, who performed in two productions this past summer, AutoShow and Tall Ghosts and Bad Weather, as part of The Kick & Push Festival.

Jesse MacMillan is the Guard/Musician. Making his Theatre Kingston debut, Jesse was a performer in 2013 to 2015 with Salon Theatre. He has also worked a bit with the technical side of theatre doing work at the Tett Centre, H’art Studio and in the community in lighting and sound design.
