An electrifying tale of race, power, and madness, Blue/Orange was instantly recognized as a landmark theatrical event when it premiered in 2004, winning every major British award for Best New Play. Now, Theatre Kingston brings this exhilarating piece to the Grand Theatre in a fresh production directed by Toronto’s Alan Dilworth (Crash, If We Were Birds,The Middle Place) and starring Nigel Bennett (Murdoch Mysteries, The Border, Road to Avonlea, Legends of the Fall).

Blue/Orange is the dramatic story of a young psychiatric patient Christopher (Ayinde Blake), who claims to be the son of an African dictator. A professional consultation between his two doctors, veteran Robert (Nigel Bennett) and protege Bruce (William Matthews) explodes into a passionate battle of wills over the real costs and value of Public Health.

“Provocative, blackly funny … taut with thought-provoking ambiguity” – The Independent (London)

“Exuberant … Penhall has the gift of making serious points in a comic manner and of conveying moral indignation without preaching …Stinging satire.”  – The Guardian (London)
